Yale SCEA Results Are In...

This week, The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Yale offered spots to 800 potential members of the class of 2026. The students were admitted from a pool of 7,288 early action applicantsthe second highest number in Yale’s history — which yielded an acceptance rate of 10.9 percent. The acceptance rate rose slightly from last year when 10.5 percent of early action applicants, or 837 students, received an offer of admission. But both this year and last demonstrate increasing selectivity compared to prior cycles. The classes of 2024 and 2023 saw early acceptance rates of 13.8 and 13.2 percent, and 796 and 794 students admitted, respectively.

Yale’s admissions utitlizes Single Choice Early Action (SCEA), which is non-binding unlike Early Decision, where students must commit to a college if they receive an offer.  With SCEA, students have until May 1st (universal decision day) to make their final decision on which institution to attend. Students who are accepted under SCEA can therefore wait until they have all their regular decision results before committing – a real perk of traveling this route!

Thirty-one percent of early applicants were deferred for reconsideration during Regular Decision deliberations, 57 percent were rejected, and one percent were withdrawn or incomplete. Yale has a total acceptance rate of 6.5 percent, a clear indication of the highly selectivity of the Connecticut Ivy. In an article published by the Yale Daily, Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid Jeremiah Quinlan said, “We also look forward to admitting a much larger group of students through our regular decision process this spring.”

Students who are accepted to Yale have an average GPA of 4.13, an average SAT score of 1510, and an average ACT score of 102. While these factors play an important role on whether a student gets accepted to the Ivy, Yale University considers many non-quantifiable factors, and this is where Ivy Link can help!
