Notre Dame Class of '27 Admissions Roundup

The admissions officers at Notre Dame have spoken! For the Class of 2027, the university has offered 1,698 students admission in the Regular Decision round. There were also a limited number of students offered a seat on the waiting list, though the university has not specified an exact number.

The students admitted in this Regular Decision round join the 1,701 students, or 15.2% of applicants, offered admission in the Restrictive Early Action (REA) round. The REA round is non-binding so the students who applied in this round are not required to attend, though historically roughly 70% of students offered admission in this round choose to attend.

This means that of the total pool of 28,351 applications, the university admitted just 3,399 students, or 11.9%. This is the lowest rate of acceptance in the history of the university.

Fun facts:

  • The results were published on March 18 at 6:42pm ET which translates to 18:42 continental time. This is a nod to the founding of the university in 1842.

  • The Gold Dome on top of the main building is covered in 24-karat gold. When the dome gets re-gilded, flakes of gold are often seen falling onto the ground surrounding the dome. During this time, gold is literally raining from the sky!

  • The South Dining Hall on campus is modeled to look like a medieval Guild Hall. It often reminds people of the dining hall in Harry Potter. Because of this, starting in 2009, the school hosts an annual Harry Potter-themed dinner! This event is rumored to be great fun for Harry Potter fans–which you all should be!
