Amherst Class of '27 Admissions Roundup
Amherst has made up their minds. Out of 12,700 applications in the Regular Decision round, they have admitted 1,143 students, or 9% of the pool. These 1,143 students will join 191 students who were admitted during the Early Decision round. In that round, the college received 736 applications meaning they admitted 26% of their early admissions applicants.
This year, the number of Regular Decision applicants applying to Amherst was down 14.2% from last year’s 14,800 applications. This decline is in line with several other liberal arts colleges who also saw fewer applications than for the Class of 2026 admissions cycle.
Fun fact: The Regular Decision results were released on March 18 at exactly 6:21pm EDT. This is to honor the college’s founding in 1821, as 6:21pm is 18:21 on a continental clock! How neat is that?
The big takeaway from these results is that, as we always say, you have a much higher chance of acceptance if you apply in the Early Decision round. So if you’re planning to apply in future years, plan ahead!
