Founded in 1793 in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Williams college is the second-oldest college in Massachusetts. The college is comprised of 25 different academic departments and offers 36 different majors in the humanities, arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. The college has consistently, since 2004, ranked No. 1 in the U.S. News and World Report list of National Liberal Arts Colleges.

In 2022, Williams College became the first higher education institute in the country to eliminate loan and work study-based financial aid, making all financial assistance through the school in the form of grants.
