The Case for Early Action
If your student is able to apply through Early Action, we strongly encourage them to do so. Early Action allows your student to apply and gain acceptance a few months before Regular Decision, thus giving them more options when making a final choice. Here are a few key Early Action advantages to consider:
Early Action shows the school that you are seriously interested. This may sound simple, but Early Action is a great way to let the school know that they are at (or near) the top of your student’s college list. Since it benefits the school to have a high number of accepted applicants choose to attend the school (aka “high yield”), they are more likely to offer admission to the student who seems the most serious about attending.
Early Action cuts down on admissions stress. By gaining early acceptance to one of your student’s first-choice schools early in the school year, it allows your student to finish their senior year without having to worry about which school they will be attending.
Early Action is non-binding. Unlike Early Decision, Early Action is a non-binding way for your student to get accepted to their first-choice schools while still allowing them to apply to multiple schools. Furthermore, it gives them a chance to compare factors such as campus environment and financial aid packages against other schools to which they have been accepted.
Early Action deadlines are quickly approaching so your student should be well into completing their applications. If they are ready for an extra set of eyes, or having trouble getting started, contact Ivy Link for support.
