Harvard Suspends SAT/ACT Making Princeton the Lone Tiger

Last night, Harvard’s admissions office announced that the university will not require ACT or SAT scores for the 2020-21 admissions cycle. This comes in addition to the March policy change, which stated that students applying for the class of 2025 would not be penalized for failing to submit SAT Subject Test or AP/IB Exam scores.

This announcement has been expected, given the wave of schools adopting such changes in the last few months. Princeton is now the only Ivy League school holding on to the SAT/ACT requirement. As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, students who have scores to submit should submit them, and students who don’t should try their best to get them. More on why, here.

Obviously, some students will have to apply without ACT or SAT scores. If this is the case for you or your student, the personal essay and other application materials will be even more important.
