Harvard Reverses Test-Optional Policy
Harvard is once again requiring standardized test scores as part of the application process for those applying as first-year students in the 2024-25 cycle. The announcement, made Thursday, April 11th, is a reversal of their previous announcement which committed to a test-optional policy through the next two application cycles.
Harvard’s announcement comes on the heels of several of their peers, such as Yale, Dartmouth, MIT, among others who have also recently announced the return of testing requirements.
More and more competitive colleges are bringing back the testing requirements. At Ivy Link, we have always emphasized the importance of taking the tests and submitting the scores. Even if your first choice college is test-optional, submit your strong scores! They can only help to make your academic profile more appealing to admissions officers.
In light of these changes in admissions policies, it's essential to recognize the role of strategic test preparation. Ivy Link's tailored approach has yielded impressive results, with students, on average, increasing their SAT scores by 210-270 points, ACT scores by 6-12 points, and AP Test scores by 1-2 points.
Our individualized test preparation ensures that students are well-prepared to meet the rigorous standards set by elite colleges, including those now reinstating testing requirements.
