Founded in 1754, Columbia University is the oldest university in New York. Located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, Columbia is known as one of the most prestigious universities in the world. The university is divided into 21 colleges, with some of the most well known being Barnard, Teachers College, and Columbia Journalism School. 

In recent news, Columbia has dealt with some drama surrounding the US News and World Report ranking. They were originally left unranked before appearing on the final ranking at 18th place.
