For the Class of 2027, Brown University offered admission to 1,730 students in the Regular Decision round. These students join the 879 students admitted during Early Decision. This means that the university accepted 2,609 students from the pool of 51,302 applications leading to an overall acceptance rate of 5.06%.

To break this down a bit more, we can see that from the pool of 6,670 Early Decision applications, Brown accepted 879 students leading to a 13.18%  acceptance rate. On the other hand, from a pool of 44,632 Regular Decision applications, the university accepted 1,730 students leading to a 3.88% acceptance rate.

The main takeaway from these numbers: students have a much higher chance of acceptance by applying in the Early Decision round.

Fun Facts:

  • Brown University financial aid covers full tuition for families earning $125,000 or less with typical assets. For students from families making less than $60,000 a year with typical assets, scholarships cover all expenses, including tuition, room, board, books and more.

  • The undergraduate curriculum changed drastically in 1970, and eventually became known as the Brown Curriculum. This new curriculum wiped out the core requirements shared by all Brown undergraduates and allowed students to craft their own course of study.
