The results are trickling in, and this was another competitive cycle as part of the most unusual years we’ve ever experienced. We’ll be back with more stats in the coming days, so be sure to check in regularly.

Key Takeaways

All eight Ivies and other top colleges saw huge drops in acceptance rate. This is due to the equally impressive spike in applications with thousands of students taking advantage of the test-optional policies. There were likely several other factors at play, including the additional time at-home, but not having to submit SAT or ACT scores seemes to have had the biggest impact.

Colleges are keeping most of their numbers close to the chest, but what they aren’t releasing is pretty telling in itself. For example, Duke announced this week that 44% of aplicants didn’t submit test scores, but didn’t release the number of students who were admitted without test scores. Simlarly, Stanford (along with Cornell) hasn’t released it’s admission stats, likely out of concern that future students might be scared off by exceptionally low admission rates as well as not wanting to advertise a potentially low student yield for this cycle.
