Ivy Day 2024

In the world of college admissions, “Ivy Day” is the day that most, if not all, Ivy League colleges release their admissions decisions. This year, the big date is March 28! In case you were wondering, Ivy Day happens without direct coordination between the colleges. Basically, no school wants to be outdone by any of the others. So, since Harvard and Cornell announced that their decision release date is March 30, the other Ivies all follow suit. But, did you know that the idea of Ivy Day has a much more interesting history?

Ivy Day is named after an annual Ivy League ceremony in which an ivy stone is placed on campus grounds to commemorate academic excellence. Each year, the stones are decorated with a symbol or engraving that somehow represents the graduating class of that particular year. During the Ivy Day ceremony, students commonly give speeches about their time and work at the college to celebrate their achievements. Then, before commencement each year, the graduating class has a procession through the grounds where the stones are kept to pay tribute to the classes that came before them. Interesting, right? We thought so!

So, hang tight! We will be updating our blog with all the Ivy League admissions decisions once they have been released.
