Columbia Class of 2028 Admissions Round Up

For the Class of 2028, Columbia admitted 2,319 students from a pool of 60,248 leading to an overall acceptance rate of 3.85%. These numbers reflect both Early Decision and Regular Decision as Columbia does not announce their admissions decisions separately.

We do know that the university received 6,009 applications in the Early Decision round meaning that they received 54,239 applications in the Regular Decision round.

It is of interest to note that this year’s 3.85% acceptance rate is slightly down from last year’s 3.9% However, the application pool of 60,248 is the third-largest in the university’s history. So the competition was fierce this year.

As always, we want to emphasize that if Columbia is your top-choice college, then you should apply in the Early Decision round. It is still highly competitive, but your chances of admission will likely be higher.

Fun Facts:

  • Originally called King’s College, the university was the fifth of the first nine colleges chartered in the American Colonies! And Columbia Medical School was the second medical school established in the American Colonies, and the first ever to award an M.D. degree.

  • The Pulitzer Prize, one of the most prestigious writing and journalism awards in the country, is administered by the university!
